Gathering the Catholic Community Together

With seating for up to 500 people in its main room, our new Parish Center will allow St. Vincent de Paul Parish to be a collaborative partner with other parishes and neighborhood and community groups looking for locations to host religious and social events.

Our parishioners attend Bible studies, retreats and social events at parish centers throughout Omaha. By building our own Parish Center, we can now host some of these events on site and invite other parishes to host and co-host events with us. Each year, the parish also receives about six requests from the archdiocese to host events on site, but we are unable to accommodate in many cases due to site and size restrictions needed for retreats and archdiocesan events.

The Parish Center will allow us to offer space for those events, as well as wedding receptions. There are about 40 weddings at SVdP each year, and currently all receptions are held elsewhere. Usually weddings are at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoons and we have sports practices in the gym on Saturdays until 5:00 pm. So there is no time for set up for a reception. On the Friday evening weddings, we do not have the reception because school is in session and the gym is not available for set-up.
